More from Viña Del Mar Festival
It just occurred to me that since I'm in Mexico using a Mexican keyboard, it should be easy to find the ñ key if I just looked. I did and there it was! That's why Viña Del Mar finally looks the way it shoud in the headline. On to our star: Elliott was announced as one of the five semi-finalists in the competition, and here's a little video to see it happen:

You can find a youtube video of Elliott's first performance of 'Rock Around the Clock' here. He had to sing it a second time to reach the semi-finals.

Back to Competition
Elliott Yamin will be representing the United States in a competition at the Song Festival of Viña del Mar in Chile. Elliott has mentioned this possibility in several interviews, and now his appearance is being announced on the web. A big thanks to Flipsider Jabu for providing the following explanation and translation of the details:
The festival has two parts: the show (the guest artists just sing) and the competition, where each guest country has one contestant sing a song to represent the country. This year the competition's theme will be "Classics From All Times", and Elliott will sing Rock Around the Clock to represent the United States, according to this website. In the Festival context, it's a big thing to be the chosen artist to represent your country.

Reports from Guam
Guampdn.com published an article about Elliott's visit. When "American Idol" finalist Elliott Yamin sang before a crowd of military members and their families on Guam Friday night, his performance was also meant to convey a message. "It's the least that I can do to say thank you," Yamin said, "and give back to our men and women who serve and put their lives on the line every day." You can read the article here.
Kuam news has a report, along with a video.
There's also a report from the blog Texas Girl on a Tiny Island. She said: His sound is so original - Andrew & I left the concert last night wondering exactly what "genre" you'd classify him as. He's not pop, not really R&B...somewhere in the middle I s'pose. She includes a short video clip of Wait for You.

Concert Recap from Japan
Here's a blog that talks about one of Elliott's concerts in Japan: Concert was about an hour and a half long. He sang a lot of songs from his first and second album and he really sang well. The hall has good acustics so his voice carryed well. But the songs from second album are quite slow and quiet compared with the first one so sometimes I felt the songs from first one are better. First one includes up tempo number so I prefer it. This whole stage was really good and the band played well too. The stage lighting made the stage very attractive.

A Glimpse Beyond the Asian Curtain of Silence
We don't hear much news about Elliott's visits to Japan, but guess who tweeted in the wee hours? Last show in tokyo 2nite baby!!!!.....4 shws, and we r killin it!....best sold out crowds ever!!!!! It sounds like things are going well. Japan Entertainment News has a little column about Elliott starting his tour, but the the translation is rather incoherent. Here's a blog, Sparkles United, in which the writer kindly related in English: I’ve been to many concerts and lives, but this one was one of the best I’d ever been to!!! I LOVE ELIOT!!!!!
