Idol Brings No Guarantees
The LA Times has an article about what Idol contestants can expect post Idol. They spoke briefly to Elliott: "Any kind of impression you can make, whether it's on TV, the radio or shaking hands after a show, is positive exposure." Although his self-titled first album sold 525,000 copies, his 2009 follow-up moved only a 10th that amount. And when he tried to tour this past winter with top billing, he was met with weak ticket sales and canceled shows.
"Yeah, I might have a problem getting people to my show, and obviously the further you're removed from 'Idol,' the harder it gets, but the bottom line is: People still know who I am," Yamin insists. "Whether they recognize my face or my name, that goes a long way. The rest is up to me."

A Billboard Top 20
One of Elliott's tweets made Top 20 Tweets of the Week last week at Billboard.com. Is sandra bullocks adoption an attempt 2 prove she's NOT a racist and DOES NOT hate jews like her loser husband?...just curious Elliott should have thought a little before he tweeted that one. After some nasty comebacks he tweeted again that he was "just asking a question." Perhaps his question was prompted by this article at CNN which talks about debate surrounding interracial adoptions.

Best Sinatra Moments
MTV Newsroom has published a list of what they think are the best Frank Sinatra moments on American Idol. Elliott's "It Had to be You" makes the list: As part of the fifth season's "Great American Songbook" week, fan-favorite Yamin tackled a classic standard that Sinatra used to knock out of the park on a regular basis. Yamin's performance wasn't quite legendary, but it was roundly excellent and loved by viewers of the show.

Diabetes and American Idol
Idol Tracker spoke to Elliott about coping with diabetes while on the show (something that current contestant, Crystal Bowersox, is dealing with right now): Whether you wear a pump or not, it's a routine that's very easy to lose when you're going through the "Idol" experience, which is like no other! But in the beginning, I let everybody know what could happen, and the show was really accommodating as far as that was concerned.

Celebrity Traveler
The Chicago Tribune published an article about Elliott's travel preferences: "I have a big, beautiful house that I never really get to see," said the 30-year-old former "American Idol" contestant. "Sometimes it feels like I'm on vacation when I just get to sit on my sofa and hang out in front of my TV. But I will say that the thought of a really great, relaxing vacation can get me off my butt in no time because I really do love to travel." Check out their Q&A about Elliott's favorite places.

Elliott Gets the Last Word
| The LA Times Idol Tracker has a very complete interview/recap of Elliott's experiences in Chile with the music festival and the earthquake. Elliott, as usual, is very frank: I had a couple of meltdowns. In the very beginning, I kind of lost it. I called my brother, who deserves a shout-out because a lot of the news agencies were reaching him first. I was just in tears. I couldn't keep it together -- my chest was caved in, I felt like my blood pressure was through the roof and I couldn’t breathe right. I knew it was from the nerves and what I had just been through; it just messed me up. The article is well-worth the read, and there are additional pictures on the website. Find it here. | ![]() |

The Disaster and Diabetics
This ABC News article talks about the difficulties diabetics may face when in circumstances like Elliott's. Here's the good news: Yamin said he has been able to get a six-day restock for his insulin pump through the U.S. Embassy and the manufacturer of the pump that he hopes will last him until he is able to get a flight. Read the entire article here.

A Fair and Balanced Update on Elliott
FoxNews.com has an 'exclusive' update on Elliott. We’re stuck, stranded. We haven’t been able to reach the U.S Consulate at the embassy here, it goes straight to voice mail, and the voice mail is full," a distressed Yamin told Pop Tarts via phone on Monday. "It’s the first business day since the quake hit, they’re probably busy with Hillary Clinton and US government officials as we speak, so I’m sure getting us out of here is the furthest thing from their minds.”
But Yamin said he will need medical supplies and attention soon or could suffer severe health problems.
“I am a Type 1 diabetic and I only packed enough insulin supplies for my pump to last a couple more days, so I’m starting to worry," he said. "I don’t know how long we’re going to be here. This country isn’t very keen on insulin pumps; supplies for my pump are running low. Hospitals here are very crowded, and as you can imagine, they are dealing with bigger things.”
No worries. Elliott reported on Twitter a few hours ago that he's all set as far as insulin supplies go.
